The Children’s Room is open all of the hours the library is open.  In addition to books we have music CD’s, books on CD, DVDs and magazines appropriate for children from birth to 12 years old.

Programming

  • Storytime is held each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  Join us for stories, songs and a fun craft!  Ages 2-5.  Siblings and friends are always   welcome!

 

 

lego

    • Lego Club:  Held every third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.  Children will each build their own Lego creation to be displayed in the Children’s Room for one month, until next Lego Club. To avoid mix -ups, please do not bring Lego from home; all you need to bring with you is your imagination! 

 

crafting

  • Crafty Saturday!  Every Saturday morning there will be a drop-in craft in the Children’s Room.  Come in and get creative!

Summer Reading is flying by!

Here is a list of our final events:

  • Sciencetellers, Power & Energy:  Wednesday July 27th at 6pm  

“Join us on a fast-paced summer adventure as we make things fly, bounce, transform and soar while telling a series of stories bound to energize and engage!  Throw on your lab coat and buckle in-you are about to experience the science of power and energy through several exciting , hands-on experiments that will have the audience laughing, learning and having fun!”  Ages 5-10.  Thank you to Country Bank for generously funding this event!

  • Minecraft Craft Party:  Monday August 1st at 6pm

Get crafty with Minecraft!  Switch into “creative mode” with our MineCRAFT party!  Stations will be set up in the Reading Room for kids to create creeper magnets, pixel masks and do some great coloring.  And, of course, there will be Minecraft goodies to munch on.  We will also play “Pin the Tail on the Piggy” where the winner will win a Steve Head!  PLEASE NOTE:  THIS EVENT IS FULL.  IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP AND FIND YOU CANNOT COME, PLEASE CALL MISS CATHY AT 967-9691 SO WE MAY OPEN A SPOT FOR A CHILD ON THE WAITING LIST. 

  • Summer Reading Program Ice Cream Social Finale:  Wednesday August 3rd at 3pm

Congratulations on a job well done!  The grand prizes for the Special Olympics raffle will be announced.  Thank you to Janine’s Frostee for providing the delicious ice cream for this event!

We are very excited to be partnering with Special Olympics this year where participants can use their reading to help local athletes!  Each raffle ticket earned for reading can be used to           “purchase” a portion of either a basketball or soccer ball to be donated to Special Olympics        Massachusetts.

“On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” is sponsored by your local library, the Friends of the Library, the Ware Cultural Council, Country Bank, Monson Savings Bank, North Brookfield Savings Bank, Janine’s      Frostee, the Massachusetts Library System, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
